Pick an hour to see where the NWS expects the wind to carry your scent. Set up downwind of where deer should travel. It helps, but it is not a guarantee.
Illustration only. The shaded fan is a fixed 300-yard, plus-or-minus 35 degree sketch, not a modeled scent cone, detection distance or hard boundary. Deer can smell you outside it. Always verify with an onsite wind indicator.
Why the forecast can be wrong at your stand
Terrain, thermals, vegetation, creek bottoms and gusts shift scent in ways a forecast cannot show.

1. Call first. Every time.
Call (615) 604-3887 every time before bringing a deer, in every season.
2. Field dressing is optional.
You may bring your deer field-dressed or not field-dressed. If it is not field-dressed, an additional $45.00 fee applies.
3. Your deer comes back to you.
You get your own deer back, not someone else’s.
Before you head out
- Verify seasons, bag limits and legal hunting hours with the wildlife agency for your selected state before every hunt. For Tennessee, check the TWRA deer hunting page . Daylight windows here do not establish legal hunting hours.
- Weather data comes from the National Weather Service API . The station may be some distance from your selected hunting area.
- Got one down? Call the shop first, every time. What to expect at drop-off.
Local hunting planner
Deer movement times in Sumner County, Tennessee.
Before hunting near Bethpage, Gallatin, or Westmoreland, compare today’s daylight planning times with the local hunting weather. This page brings morning and evening estimates, barometric pressure, wind, temperature, and official weather alerts together—but does not track local deer or promise a successful hunt.
Morning and evening deer movement planning
White-tailed deer are commonly active around dawn and dusk. Penn State’s Deer-Forest Study describes these patterns and considerable variation between individual deer. That research is from Pennsylvania, not a measurement of a Sumner County herd.
Our chart highlights sunrise to 90 minutes after sunrise, and 90 minutes before sunset to sunset. These intervals are daylight heuristics, not scientifically established “best” hunting times. Deer can move at midday, at night, and outside the highlighted windows.
Barometric pressure for deer hunting
Read the last 24 hours of available NWS pressure observations in inHg and the reported rising, falling, or steady trend. The colored bands on that chart show daylight planning intervals, not deer sightings or pressure-based activity ratings.
A weather station is not a deer-tracking sensor. We do not turn a particular pressure reading into a guaranteed movement forecast. Missing observations remain missing; gaps in the chart are not filled with invented readings.
Hunting weather before you leave
Review wind, temperature, precipitation chances, and official alerts before heading to a stand. Compare the observation timestamp with the forecast issue time: station reports and forecasts are different kinds of information.
Weather is checked every 15 minutes while this page is active; alerts are checked every two minutes. The hourly forecast list shows the next 24 hours. Choose a day in the five-day planner to see its weather-comfort rating when enough NWS hourly data is available. Good, Great, and Excellent describe this site’s planning rules—not measured deer activity. Neither an empty alert feed nor a planning window means a hunt is safe or legal.
Bethpage, Gallatin, Westmoreland, and nearby areas
Bethpage is the default. Local presets also include Portland, Hendersonville, Nashville, and nearby communities in the roughly one-hour Nashville–Bethpage area. Actual driving times vary with traffic, route, and starting point.
Choose the area closest to your hunt, or enter coordinates for a supported US land location. Times follow that area’s time zone. You can optionally remember the area on this browser for your next visit. A city choice does not establish hunting access, landowner permission, or a shop branch.

Deer movement and hunting conditions FAQ
What are the best deer movement times today near Bethpage?
There is no guaranteed best time for every deer. White-tailed deer commonly show activity around dawn and dusk, with substantial individual variation. Choose Bethpage or your hunting area above to see today’s sunrise, sunset, and morning and evening daylight planning windows. The highlighted windows are estimates, not observed deer activity, feeding reports, or legal hunting hours.
How are the deer movement planning times calculated?
The morning window runs from local sunrise to 90 minutes after sunrise. The evening window runs from 90 minutes before local sunset to sunset. These are transparent daylight-based planning intervals calculated for the selected coordinates and date—not a wildlife prediction model. The five-day chart changes with the selected day and displays the selected area’s time zone.
Can I check hunting conditions for Gallatin, Westmoreland, or Nashville?
Yes. Choose a local city in the hunting-area selector, including Bethpage, Gallatin, Westmoreland, Portland, Hendersonville, and Nashville. You can also enter US land coordinates or request your device location. Weather comes from a nearby National Weather Service station and forecast grid, not an instrument on your property. These choices are weather-planning locations, not claims about public hunting access or additional shop locations.
What barometric pressure is best for deer hunting?
This page does not assign a guaranteed deer-movement score to any pressure reading. The pressure chart shows available nearby NWS observations in inches of mercury (inHg), alongside daylight planning bands. Rising, falling, or steady pressure describes the weather record, not measured deer activity. Consider wind, temperature, precipitation, and official weather alerts as well; a pressure trend alone does not tell you that deer will move.
How often do hunting weather and movement times update?
While the page is active, weather is rechecked every 15 minutes and official NWS alerts every two minutes. The Refresh button requests another check. Daylight planning uses the selected location’s calendar date and provides five days of sunrise and sunset. Check the observation time and data-update time: a successful refresh does not mean the station issued a new observation. Unavailable or out-of-date information is labeled rather than replaced with invented readings.
Are these deer feeding times or solunar hunting predictions?
No. The movement chart is a daylight-based hunting planner. It does not measure deer feeding, track deer, calculate moon-based major or minor solunar periods, or forecast the rut. Deer can move outside the highlighted windows. Use your own observations and knowledge of the property alongside the weather and daylight information.
Do these times show when I can legally hunt deer in Tennessee?
No. Sunrise and sunset planning windows do not establish legal shooting hours, an open season, bag limits, license eligibility, or permission to hunt a property. Check current Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency rules for your county, date, land type, and equipment before every hunt. Selecting a day changes its daylight planner and weather-comfort rating when enough hourly forecast data is available. The separate hourly forecast list still covers only the next 24 hours shown. Even an Excellent weather rating does not mean safe conditions or guaranteed deer movement.
